Louane is candidate for Eurovision 2025 for France! Let's return to the strength
of his title "maman" which arrived almost by chance at the end of a recording session with
his accomplice Tristan Salvati at the beginning of last summer. It was a bit of a
UFO song, we didn't really know what we were going to do with it and then it happened very quickly, I think
that in 1/2 hour we had the skeleton of the song and a few months later
Alexandra Redde-Amiel (Head of the French delegation) came to talk to me: I took a while to answer her and after
a while I went to her house, I played it to her and here I am!
A title with grandiose arrangements: epic orchestra and percussion.
We said to ourselves that we had to go for something that I've never done, while keeping
the fact that it's a ballad because it's my DNA, there hasn't been an album in my life
where there aren't 12 (!) and then we said to ourselves: we've never done an epic ballad.
When I heard the version with the real strings, it was crazy!
A title that also requires complex vocal flourishes: it's a song that is
vocally difficult, probably the most difficult in my repertoire... not
probably: it's the most difficult! I'm not able to say if it's fun for the moment...
I think that in 1 year, it will be the case! With “maman”, Louane addresses her missing mother and
also her daughter: a charge of emotion which nevertheless does not scare her too much. If you haven't
noticed, I'm a bit of a drama queen and you can't say that I have
the most joyful songs in the French music industry. So, I'm really
used to singing things that are very sad but this song isn't, so
I'm not scared of the emotion; the emotion at the end of the song
is different... but for now I will have finished singing so it's not very serious.
