You ever wonder what happens when you
mix hot lava and chicken? I did, and
you're about to find out.
So, the Minecraft movie is filled with
iconic quotes and wild moments that when
the movie was first coming out were
repeated enough that I wanted to die.
But now things have calmed down. Still,
there's one part of the Minecraft movie
that's not only extending past the
initial hype phase, but now breaking
actual records. Steve's lava chicken
song. It's a weird one. Our heroes are
exploring a local village and come
across this mysterious redstone
contraption. The rest is history. Now,
did this scene really need a song? No.
But we're talking about Jack Black and
the Minecraft movie. None of it makes
sense. just accept it. Steve's Lava
Chicken clocks in at about 34 seconds,
and despite the unbelievably short
length, you got to admit, this song is
catchy. It was co-written by Jack Black
himself along with the movie director
Jared Hess. They knew what they were
doing. And because of the earworm, we
just found out it's on the Billboard Hot
100 at number 78. My man's so fresh, he
doesn't even have a profile pick yet.
While this was a nice surprise, the even
better news is that it breaks a record
at the same time. Steve's Lava Chicken
song is officially the shortest single
to ever make it on the list. Plus, the
Wikipedia page reveals its top spots
from all around the world. The music
industry should be terrified right now.
What's interesting is that we're kind of
repeating history. In 2023, Jack Black
played a mean Bowser in the Super Mario
Bros. movie. His performance was great,
but it also came with an unexpectedly
catchy song. This time about Peach.
While Peaches didn't necessarily break
records, it still achieved top spots on
music charts everywhere and did better
than anyone expected for a song from the
Mario movie. History is a circle.
