we are September 18th and we're starting
to work on my EP of
Originals I don't even know where to
start with this video to be honest um I
just knew that I wanted to document the
process of making my first EP and just
trying to give you guys a glimpse of the
last few months and by the time this
video is out the EP is already released
um so if you don't want to hear me talk
um feel free to click out of this video
and go listen to it but I do feel like
adding a backstory to this kind of
project um enhances the listening
experience so here we are um I started
writing and brainstorming these songs in
Copenhagen Last Summer
and I had gone through a lot of dilemmas
in the past year mainly about what to do
with my life after graduation so for a
couple of weeks in Copenhagen I wrote
and just reflected on what it took for
me to make that decision only and solely
for myself so I started writing and
thinking and writing and thinking some
more um and then I went back home to
Montreal in September for my last last
semester of being a psychology student
and when I walked into class I just knew
that that wasn't my place anymore and I
just didn't belong there um and that was
a very scary thing to admit but it was
also freeing to know myself enough um to
walk away from that Old chapter and
start a new one so that's what I did and
I ended up in the craziest places
with artists um that inspired me to keep
creating and just keep doing what I love
and I found community and colleagues and
friends even though I just had assumed
that I would be walking alone for most
of it and all the while I started
working with an amazing producer from
Montreal on these five songs um that
helped me get there get here and we just
spent months recording and perfecting
every detail um and just bringing these
songs to life before I knew it I
performed them live um were my first
shows ever which was absolutely crazy to
me because for the longest time I was
terrified at the idea of singing in
front of people that weren't my parents
um but I somehow survived it and even
enjoyed it and I found peace and calm on
that stage which was really surprising
and ultimately from all the doubts and
questions and Milestones came these five
songs um that are now yours so the EP is
called the committee and it's adjust to
all the voices the voices from society
from yourself from friends or from
family and what it's like to live with
those voices um and to overcome them
because ultimately you're the one that's
going to have to live with the choices
that you're making um and I just
realized that life's too short to spend
it living someone else's idea of what a
successful life is and that's not just
about choosing a career or a job um
because these voices will be with you
when you're deciding where to live and
who to love and how to feel and what to
do and I'm still learning to live
alongside the the committee because
it'll always be there um but I also like
to think that I've learned to recognize
and follow my own voice amongst all the
other ones with that being said I hope
that this EP can be a reminder um that
no one has it all figured out um and
that questioning and doubting yourself
is actually a good thing because it
means that you're growing um and that
you're building a path that is your own
so the album is out now on every
