IU’s remake album “Flower Bookmark 3” teaser dropped today.
In the video, an automated collect-call message plays from a Korea Telecom public phone booth.
Korea Telecom’s automatic collect call service began its pilot operation on December 22, 1998.
The logo shown in the teaser was used only until December 10, 2001
because Korea Telecom officially changed its name to KT on December 11, 2001.
Therefore, the teaser’s time frame likely falls between December 22, 1998, and December 10, 2001.
Meanwhile, the flower on the album cover, released along with the teaser, is an azalea.
The azalea is known as the birth flower of August 8th.
“Flower Bookmark 3” is IU’s first remake album in 8 years.
IU’s fan club is in its 8th generation at the time of release.
IU’s favorite number is also 8.
I felt that the album is significantly connected to the number 8.
Also, at IU’s official birthday cafe event today,
I saw a crossword puzzle on the wall.
The only unanswered problem, No. 8, had the solution “ENDING.”
Considering the deep connection between “Flower Bookmark 3” and the number 8,
this puzzle might also be a spoiler for the album.
I thought about what could link both the number 8 and “ENDING,”
and also fall within the period between December 22, 1998, and December 11, 2001,
but nothing immediately came to mind.
But when I expanded the scope to around the year 2000,
something immediately stood out.
The movie “Christmas in August” (1998).
IU wears a headband on the cover, just like Shim Eun-ha did in the movie.
And the movie’s storyline is closely related to life’s ending.
For your information, the first track on the movie’s OST album is “Christmas in August (Ending Title).”
I’m not insisting this song will be included in “Flower Bookmark 3,”
but anyone who remembers the movie
would probably be reminded of it by the clues we’ve seen so far.
Here are my guesses:
1. “Flower Bookmark 3” may include songs from around the year 2000.
2. Perhaps, there might even be a track related to “Christmas in August.”
Of course, these are purely fan speculations and nothing has been confirmed.
